voxeljet technology at EUROGUSS 2010 voxeljet technology launched its 2010 trade show season at EUROGUSS 2010 in Nuremberg. A total of 7,141 specialists—one quarter of them from abroad—visited the trade show, which ended successfully on 21 January after a three-day run. 364 exhibitors at EUROGUSS demonstrated all kinds of diecasting products and services, from diecast parts, materials, furnaces, diecasting machinery and dies to finishing, quality control and research and development.

voxeljet presented its entire range of 3D printing technology with a special focus on applications in connection with diecasting. EUROGUSS visitors experienced the connection between plastic models, produced in voxeljet's' 3D printing systems, and metal parts produced with diecasting processes.
Diecasting is an ideal way to produce modern high-tech metal components with complex shapes and high quality requirements. However, before mass production can begin, manufacturers need prototypes that correspond to the mass-produced components as precisely as possible.
|
Because diecasting moulds are relatively complex and expensive to produce, they only pay off when produced on a large scale. An alternative is to produce prototypes and small batches by investment casting, which uses wax models that melt during the diecasting process. The use of voxeljet's 3D plastic printing method allows highly precise wax models to be produced economically. voxeljet's 3D plastic printers use generative manufacturing methods to produce the wax parts or lost models directly from 3D CAD data without additional tools or extra processing steps. After being cast, these models deliver prototypes whose quality is comparable to mass-produced diecast parts.

A great many visitors to the trade show expressed interest in the exhibited models produced with VX models from voxeljet. They also asked about the requirements for operating their own VX systems as well as the company's range of services. As one of its services, voxeljet also offers the possibility of producing models according to the customer's CAD data.
For those who were unable to attend the trade show and want to be sure not to miss future events. |
